It seems like Chicago doesn't feed their own. You are right Ted, Bruce (and for that matter you too Ted) deserve more attention in Chicago.

Bruce its just astounding to me that you are not shown more here. Your painting is complex and magical to me, with a mathematicians metric and a poets lyric. Great interview.

I've admired Bruce Thorn's work for quite a while and I also admire his commitment. If there is such a thing as lively narrative abstraction -- I think there is -- Bruce is doing it.

When there is a compulsion to do something like creating art, whether it be traditional 2 & 3 dimensional, or music, dance, etc., there is really nothing one can do but to give in to the desire to produce what the spirit wants to put out there. If you don’t give in, you starve the soul.

There may be more venues out there now than we know of. When we went through our art “training” it was considered to be selling out to go commercial. Now even the Art Institute is trying to get these graduates “Jobs in the arts”.

We just have to keep doing what we are doing, and hope that eventually people catch on.

There's a lot of art out there and most of it is looking for a good home.

If you like an artist's work; have the courage to buy it. Buy it on time, buy it through barter, just buy it. Throw out your posters and Pottery Barn dust collectors; display original art in your home and office. - this message brought to you by an artist's wife and amateur art collector

Your take on the art scene hits home.

I really enjoy taking in your work while listening to your music. I hope to make it to a gig really soon.
