		<description>sangram is a pretty inspiring example for younger painters like myself (i have to admit that i&#039;m biased being a fellow IU MFA graduate). i always make a point to swing into ann nathan gallery when he&#039;s showing there - usually a number of times - because his paintings have a revelatory quality in their construction that isn&#039;t simplistic or affected and really provides that visual connection between process and the resulting image. what i really enjoy about all of the work is the play between broader movements of color or shape and the areas of more specific definition. those deftly designed elements that sing just right in the midst of the totality are all the more motivation for me to pursue the work as a viewer. great stuff.</description>
