		<description>Thanks!  Very good stuff there. I think it&#039;s especially important to have contracts as an artist gets secondary representation.  There&#039;s less of a personal bond with the dealer.  A good contract is like insurance.  It&#039;s something both parties can refer to if things go bad.  If the relationship is good and the contract is clear, than it can sit in a drawer.</description>

Hirst is a prime example of having a name that is big enough that he doesn&#039;t need any help selling his work.  Of course, he wouldn&#039;t have gotten where he is without Saachi&#039;s efforts early on. Duncan summed it up nicely in this week&#039;s Bad At Sports.</description>

the credit crunch is hitting students very hard, maybe even harder, than home owners - - achieving an mfa in the future may not necessarily mean you are a good artist, just that you could actually pay for it.

Mr Hirst, as backlash-ridden as he may be, may have broken some sort of barrier with the direct-to-auction success story. perhaps this will be the beginning of the emigration from traditional galleries. yes, he had to have a gallery first in order to be able to sell 200$mill, but that is just for now. Progress happens as a j curve. there is a long, long period of very little growth and change, but it is exponential, and will rise at an incredible rate. 

dna decoding is a pretty good example of this. it took ten years and 13 billion dollars to decode the first little bit of dna, and now it only took a short period of time and 1million dollars to decode the dna of the wolly mammoth they just found.. . ..</description>
