I could not of said it any better than Tony Phillips! Mullen's works of art, "Answer to the act of the artist, the nature of the materials, which altogether has its present integrity and dignity." What I also found refreshing yet soulful in Mullens latest pieces of work is the warm and calming hues as a backdrop of its subject that draws one inside the very nature of the story being expressed.

These paintings and sculptures are so thoroughly resourceful, so intensely and completely worked out to such an optimal extent as to be transporting, walking one through the wall into another world that is utterly strange yet resolute. They suggest an exotic array of living things that have achieved fully dynamic relationships, a developed ecology. Yet the works don't slip into science fiction; they don't give themselves away; they answer to the act of the artist, the nature of the materials, which altogether has its present integrity and dignity.
