From New Art Examiner Now:
We at the New Art Examiner Now are responding to a contemporary crisis: the declining relevance of art criticism and meaningful cultural interpretation. Mainstream art has become an intensely market driven system, supporting a huge industry of education, trading and investment. The monetization and commodification of art – What Robert Hughes has called “the appalling commercialization of the art world” – has marginalized meaningful debate that challenges this situation. We seek writers who present insight into this problem and offer imaginative alternatives for civic engagement and discourse.
